The Story of our Logo

Why a Penguin?

Pymwymic chose the Penguin as a logo way back in 1996, before both Disney and documentaries discovered this rare bird. Founder Frank van Beuningen is an ocean sailor with a deep love of southern Patagonia and Antartica, first visiting the extreme south in 1987. He saw incredible beautiful clean landscapes, and saw how the penguins were a cooperative society, dependent on working together to hatch the next generation.

So in 1995, when Frank sold his multinational company and decided to Put His Money Where His Mouth Is by setting up the first social venture capital fund in Europe to invest in businesses that had both financial return and did good for the world (then called ‘Triple P’ for Profit/Planet/People) – he remembered the penguin.

  • Communal, and somehow a bit comical.
  • Sturdy and stubborn against harsh odds.
  • Males and females working together.
  • Dependent on community cooperation to hatch the next generation.
  • Living in a balance with nature.

Our Pymwymic Penguin has grown and adapted with the times. With the colors of earth and sky blended, it looks towards the future.
