History

Pymwymic is part of GreenPartners B.V., an advisory company to private equity, headquartered in Holland. GreenPartners was founded by Frank van Beuningen in 1990, in Holland. After spending the 1980′s building a successful worldwide brand (Gaastra), Frank turned his attention to the emerging field of socially responsible investing. He began GreenPartners, originally drawn to build on family expertise in organic food production and sustainable agriculture. As he began to understand the bredth of what would be needed for the sustainability of the environment, in 1995, Frank founded and became manager of the Pymwymic Fund, an angel fund designed to help launch social and environmentally responsible companies.

The Original Pymwymic Fund

In 1995, a core group of SVN members and investors began the Pymwymic venture capital fund. Pymwymic shareholders include some of the most famous names in European social venture start-up, including Eckart Wintzen (Origin) and Jan Oosterwijk (The Body Shop). Pymwymic most enjoyable investment was in bringing Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream to the Benelux. Pymwymic invested in what was then unknown but visionary technology: solar, wind, wave, lithium batteries, biotechnology, ethical waste management, recyclable plastic. After sales of several portfolio companies and 15 years of pioneering social community, the Pymwymic Fund in 2004 decided to wind down and not re-invest further distributions. There are two remaining portfolio companies: LTC Gaia www.gaia-akku.com and Living Technologies Scotland. www.ltluk.com. When those companies exit, the Fund will close.
