It’s all about music – and change

‘How does a rather bold white American go in this Latin American community? How does he really make contact?’ Willy Foote, CEO of Root Capital, looked at the audience. ‘By singing’, he answered his own question. And before the audience could even ask themselves: ‘Is he really going to sing? Here?’, he burst out in a Nicaraguan song. Full of joy, full of passion. A big applause was his reward.

Je gaat het pas zien als je het doorhebt

Most of you might not be able to read the headline of this post. It’s a quote of the world most famous (and Dutch) football player Johan Cruyff. In Holland he’s also known for his philosophic quotes, and this heading is one of them. Translated it’s something like: you only gonna see it when you grab it. Cruyff has been quoted by Marilou van Golstein Brouwers of Triodos Investment Management at the opening dinner of Pymwymic Impact Days. She gave us this philosophic insight to show the ‘non- believers’ that impact investing is needed to change the world. Two other equally important things: the change we need is urgent and we can all contribute to this change, whether you are a banker or a consumer.
